Commentary: Although not as successful as Rockwell's earlier "comic strip" cover paintings, this one is lively enough, nonetheless. Here, atypically, Rockwell does give us the action on the field as well as the cheerleader's reaction. The plays leading to the touchdown are, in fact, spelled out in considerable detail.
