THE NEW TELEVISION SET

Norman Rockwell

1949

Painting by Norman Rockwell for the cover of the Saturday Evening Post, November 5, 1949. Back in the old days, before cable TV, houses had antennas on the roof, enabling them to get a signal to the television set. It would often require some adjusting in order to get a clear picture. In this scene, the man in the window is letting the man on the roof know it was coming in clear.
