Norman Rockwell's painting for the Saturday Evening Post cover for July 23, 1927. On May 20, 1927, Charles Lindbergh departed from Long Island, New York, in his plane "Spirit of St Louis". 33.5 hours later, he landed in Paris, making him the first person to fly over the Atlantic alone.
